Clarmondial is pleased to announce that it is developing the Biosphere Integrity Fund (Biosphere), an investment fund to originate, finance and scale businesses that respond to the combined challenges of catastrophic biodiversity loss, rapid climate change, and loss of ecosystem goods and services, and locally led development.
In addition to financing businesses with more traditional revenue streams, Biosphere will also explore financing of climate and biodiversity commitments including high-quality carbon offsets, insets, and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
Biosphere builds on the knowledge and networks of Clarmondial and the Food Securities Fund. It is being developed through discussions with strategic potential investors and partners. Clarmondial is conducting scoping missions to landscapes in Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, and Indonesia, among others.
Biosphere is based on the Business Case for Collective Landscape Action Initiative, a partnership with Rainforest Alliance, Conservation International, and CDP, supported by USAID.
Development of Biosphere is led by Edgar Mora. Jenny Henman, who has 20 years of experience in natural climate solutions, is also contributing to Biosphere’s development. Clarmondial is seeking an associate / project manager to support this work: https://www.clarmondial.com/careers/
